Scope and Content:
Interview with Colin Bazley about his life in Clavering and Saffron Walden.

[00:00:] Details of his early life, including the homes he lived in; his father's work as a farm labourer; bombs that fell in Clavering in the Second World War including hitting Parsonage Farm; father becoming tenant farmer at Parsonage Farm and establishing dairy farm there with Colin's uncle Jim Pinnock.
[04:50:] Living conditions on the farm; how his parents met; his siblings and his cousins who lived with them; conversion of old Nissen hut into extra accommodation after the War; facilities at the farm.

Colin Malcolm John Bazley was born in Berden in 1938. His father, Norman John Bazley, was a farm worker on Berden Hall Farm, and they lived in a tied cottage. The family moved to Parsonage Farm, Clavering, in 1940. He had a younger brother and sister. He attended Newport Grammar School from 1949 to c. 1954.

Colin started working for auctioneers and surveyors Edwin Watson and Son on leaving school at16. He became a partner in the firm from the age of 26. He continued working in the business until his retirement.

Colin married Janet Wiseman in 1968. They had two sons and one daughter.

Colin played cricket for the Clavering club for fifty years.
